The Case 310G and Case 350 crawler dozers are compact, ruggedly built machines designed for grading, earthmoving, and utility work. Developed in the 1960s and 1970s, these models established Case as a reliable brand for smaller crawler tractors, offering a balance of power, durability, and serviceability for contractors, farmers, and municipalities.
General Design
Both machines feature a strong welded main frame with low ground pressure, making them stable on varied terrain. The 310G is lighter and well-suited for utility grading, while the 350 provides a modest increase in power and capacity for heavier applications. Their compact size and maneuverability allow them to work effectively in confined spaces compared to larger crawlers.
Engine & Fuel System
The 310G is powered by the Case G148 four-cylinder gasoline engine (148 cu in, 37 hp), while the 350 is equipped with the larger Case G188 gasoline or D188 diesel engine (188 cu in, 42 hp). Both engines deliver dependable power with straightforward maintenance. A simple fuel system with accessible filters and tank placement ensures reliable performance and easier servicing.
Hydraulics & Power Train
Hydraulic pump outputs (10–12 gpm) provide smooth control of mounted equipment such as blades and loaders. The 310G uses a 5-speed transmission, while the 350 features an 8-speed gearbox, both paired with dry steering clutches and contracting band brakes for reliable control. The hydro-mechanical drivetrain ensures effective power transfer while remaining serviceable with basic tools.
Track and Suspension
Equipped with 12–14 inch track shoes and sealed chain links, the undercarriage delivers stability and traction. Ground pressure of approximately 5.5–5.8 psi allows both models to operate on soft or uneven ground. The suspension design balances flotation with durability, reducing wear on track components during extended use.
Electrical System
A simple 12-volt electrical system powers the starter, alternator, and lighting. With minimal wiring and easy access to service points, the system was designed for reliability in rugged working environments.
Mounted Equipment
Standard blades offered capacities of 1.1 cu yd (310G) and 1.3 cu yd (350), making them efficient for backfilling, leveling, and light earthmoving. Additional attachments such as loaders and rippers were available, extending versatility on the jobsite.
