Preface
The purpose of this manual is to assist dealers and distributors in the efficient repair and maintenance of AGCO farm machinery. By following the detailed procedures and using the specified special tools where appropriate, operations can be completed.
Each section of the manual opens with a contents page listing its operations. Every instruction within an operation carries a sequence number; to complete the task in the minimum time, these instructions must be followed in numerical order starting from 1 unless otherwise stated. When applicable, the same sequence numbers identify components in the relevant illustrations. Where a special tool is required, its number appears under the operation heading and again within, or immediately after, the instruction that calls for its use.
For convenience, the manual is divided into sections and parts, with each page bearing the appropriate section-and-part number. Sections are further subdivided into numbered operations—for example, 1-7A denotes Operation 1 in Section 7, Part A—simplifying cross-referencing and making subjects easy to locate.
Operation descriptions used throughout the schedules are defined as follows:
• Removal and Refitment — remove and refit an original part or assembly, or a replacement that requires no additional operations or time.
• Install — fit a part or component not previously installed, e.g., accessories.
• Overhaul — remove a part or assembly, dismantle, inspect and recondition, reassemble, and reinstall, making all necessary adjustments.
• Disassembly and Re-assembly — methodically take apart an assembly into individual parts and rebuild it to the original assembly.
• Adjust — make the necessary adjustments to restore the specified setting or performance.
• Check — ascertain whether a setting or condition meets the manufacturer’s specifications or, where no dimension is specified, the mechanic’s judgment; checking fixings (e.g., nuts and bolts) includes tightening to the torque figures listed in this manual.
• Servicing — all technical work undertaken to maintain the machine in working order.
