Foreword
This repair manual provides the technical information needed to properly service the CASE IH models Farmall 30, 35C and 40C tractors. Use this manual in conjunction with the operator’s manual for complete operation, adjustment, and maintenance information
On CASE IH equipment, left and right are determined by standing behind the unit, looking in the direction of travel.
NOTICE: Emissions sensors in the exhaust system and on the vehicle may be damaged by vibrations from use of impact wrenches or hammers during service work. Avoid using these tools when servicing components close to the sensors. Remove the sensors with care if use of these tools cannot be avoided.
Subsequent sections follow the Table of Contents sequence to streamline diagnostic flow. Chapter “Engine – 10” covers lubrication, cooling, timing, and top-end rebuild procedures with torque and clearance charts referenced at each step. “Clutch – 18” and “Transmission – 21” supply removal, inspection and re-installation instructions for both mechanical-gear and hydrostatic drives, while “Front / Rear Axle Systems – 25 / 27” detail final-drive, differential-lock and bearing preload service. Hydraulic, PTO, brake, steering and electrical chapters provide circuit descriptions, pressure test points, schematics and fault-code tables for rapid troubleshooting. Cab climate control, bodywork and decal replacement procedures conclude the manual, followed by a comprehensive special-tool index and three fold-out wiring posters (cab hydrostatic, cab mechanical, and mechanical-gear transmission) for quick pin-out reference during electrical repairs.
